Siblings Khashy and Dezireh Eyn formed real estate brokerage firm Platinum Properties in 2005, along with high school friend Daniel Hedaya, who at the time was an aspiring chef. Today, the firm has more than 35 agents and three offices, one of which is in Paris, and is far more influential than the boutique label it bestows upon itself.

More truly a mid-sized firm, Platinum saw the value of its holdings jump nearly 300 percent from 2013 to 2014. That uptick was mainly due to several high-priced listings, including a $13 million apartment by footwear heir Alex Birkenstock and a penthouse owned by T-shirt titan Moise Emquies.

Truth be told, Platinum has been steadily (if not quietly) growing since its inception. In 2009, Platinums Paris office opened, offering Europeans views of the firms New York City offerings via a plasma television, instead of a costly flight. A year later it opened an office in Miami and a second in New York City, and had plans for another in Los Angeles. Khashy Eyn, who serves as the firms CEO and president, has said the firm plans to open up offices in other U.S. cities, as well as expand further into Europe.
