    Rockefeller Group is a privately held real estate firm and subsidiary of Mitsubishi Estate. It is most well-known for building Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan in the 1930s, as well as the Time-Life Building overlooking Central Park (which it then renovated in 2015 to the tune of $325 million). Rockefeller has since become a relatively active developer in other areas. It has joined with F&T Group and AECOM Capital in building the massive commercial-residential project Flushing Commons. Rockefeller also had plans to build another skyscraper on 48th Street, but those plans ultimately fell through. In 2014 the group caught flak for allegedly leaving Hobokens mayor in the dark regarding its development of a new light rail station in the city as part of Rockefellers plan to redevelop parts of Hobokens north end. That project became part of a sweeping investigation into Gov. Chris Christie and claims the governor threatened to withhold money to various politicians if they didnt green light certain projects, such as the Rockefeller development.
