    Tishaman Construction as roots dating back to 1898 as a family construction business founded by Julius Tishman.

    The firm has owned and developed roughly 10 million sq. ft. for its own account and has sourced and structured nearly $8 billion of debt and equity for its projects. The firm has also developed, managed and advised on more than 35 million sq. ft. of all types of real estate – including hospitality, retail, residential and office.

    Tishman Construction managed construction of the Twin Towers of the original World Trade Center.

    The firm grew to become one of New York City's top construction firms under the leadership of John Tishman, grandson of the founder, who also expanded the firm into an developer and manager of hotel properties and rebranded the company as Tishman Realty & Construction.

    The hotel properties and management operations were later spun off as Tishman Realty Partners, and Tishman Construction, and the latter was acquired by AECOM in 2010 to become AECOM Tishman.

    The Building 2 site at the Riverside Center mixed-use development sold for $70 million, the New York Post reported. The $420 million development calls for apartments, retail and a grade school, which will be built by Tishman Construction and then turned over to the School Construction Authority, which will finish the interior, the Post said.
