United American Land is a family owned real estate management, development, and investment company owned by the Laboz family. The firm has also been active in downtown Brooklyn, where owner Albert Laboz serves as chairman of the Fulton Mall Association and the firm has owned the Brooklyn Municipal Building and other properties. United American Land was able to get in on the ground floor before the development and acquisition boom hit in 2012. The firm sometimes targets properties not for their existing buildings but for unused air rights. In 2009 United American Land bought 1627 Broadway from the Rockefeller Group for $26 million, with the intention of using the land’s extensive air rights to build a larger building. In 2015 the firm purchased the office building at 315 Broadway for $18 million, buying the five-story loft building from a partnership of Ramrod Realty Management and Chloe Elizabeth Realty, again with the intention of using its 20,000 square feet of unused air rights.
