    Wells Fargo

    150 East 42nd Street
    New York, NY 10017

    Website

Wells Fargo is the nations fourth-largest bank by assets with $1.527 trillion in 2013. The San Francisco-based firm also recorded revenue that year of $83.78 billion.

While it is the nations biggest mortgage lender, Wells Fargo is not that well-known in New York City, a fact the bank has been trying to change since it acquired Wachovia in the throes of the Great Recession in 2008. The bank announced in early 2014 it would be expanding its number of branches, bankers and loan-brokering in the city. It has also beefed up its capital-markets team and has increased its presence on Wall Street.

Wells Fargo is led in the New York metropolitan area by Joseph Kirk, its regional president. The banks origins stretch back to the California Gold Rush in the mid-1800s, but the modern Wells Fargo dates from a merger in 1988. -TA

For the first time since 2007, the privately held global commercial brokerage bested the two firms that had long rivaled one another for the ranking’s top spot. Eastdil Secured and CBRE went head to head over the past decade, but gradually the gap between the two widened and Eastdil scored landslide wins. In 2016, the Wells Fargo subsidiary pulled in a record $22.9 billion worth of investment sales, over CBRE’s $6.7 billion...
