    George M. Klett is executive vice president at commercial lender Signature Bank. He joined the upstart lender in 2007. Today, as chairman of the banks commercial real estate committee, Klett oversees a portfolio of more than $7 billion in assets. Klett spent more than a decade as an executive vice president at North Fork Bank, where he presided over the lenders $12 billion commercial and multi-family mortgage loan portfolio until the bank was purchased by Capital One in 2007. Before that Klett worked at M&T Bank, helping it break into commercial real estate lending and grow its portfolio to more than $2 billion. He later managed the banks commercial lending division. He also worked as an appraiser and broker for Fourth Federal Savings Bank. Kletts start in the real estate industry began as a sales representative for Bronx-based Geisinger-Klock Real Estate. Klett, who served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, was honored in 1999 by the State of Israel for his leadership.
