    Jonathan Mechanic is chairman of real estate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, an international law firm in New York. Mechanic works within all aspects of real estate finance and development, giving counsel to developers, REITs and lenders in acquisitions and dispositions, mezzanine loans and construction financing, joint ventures, and other financial activities.

    Mechanics major projects include working with the Related Companies on the acquisition of debt at One Madison Avenue, counseling Condé Nast in their 25-year, 1 million-square-foot lease at One World Trade Center, and advising Citigroup in the purchase of their 1.7 million-square-foot headquarters at 388-390 Greenwich Street.

    Considered by many to be one of the most important real estate lawyers in New York, Mechanic is routinely named to best lawyers lists such as Legal 500 and New York Super Lawyers, and has been named a top lawyer by the Commercial Observer, the New York Observer, Real Estate Weekly, and MVP Lawyer of the Year by Law360 in 2011.

    He holds a JD from the University Virginia School of Law where he was Editor of the Virginia Law Review.
