Mayor Michael Bloomberg appointed Kyle Kimball president of the citys Economic Development Corporation in July 2013. As such, he was charged with overseeing a nonprofit that basically serves as the development and leasing arm for city-owned properties throughout the five boroughs.

In March 2015, Kimball, whom Mayor Bill de Blasio had kept on when he took office in 2014, announced he would step down in June of that year for an undisclosed career move.

Kimball arrived at the EDC from investment bank Goldman Sachs, giving him solid connections in the real estate and real estate financing worlds. He worked as EDCs executive director before being named president, handling the organizations day-to-day operations. He also worked as the EDCs CFO and COO, the duties of which included handling leases for the city.

Some of the biggest projects Kimball handled as EDC president included the ongoing redevelopment of Willets Point, Queens, and the development of a science and technology hub on Roosevelt Island.

Kimball earned an undergraduate degree in government from Harvard and also a masters in public policy from that universitys Kennedy School.
