    Linda Stein

    New York, NY

Linda Stein was a broker at Prudential Douglas Elliman, having sold multimillion-dollar properties to celebrities like Billy Joel, Sting, Angelina Jolie, Madonna, and Steven Spielberg. She was found murdered in her Fifth Avenue penthouse on October 30, 2007, and her former assistant, Natavia Lowery, was sentenced to 25 years to life for the crime, as well as for stealing $30,000 from her.

She sold newlyweds Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley two apartments at 88 Central Park West, which they joined into a 7,000-square-foot duplex. When the couple divorced, she sold it to Sting for $4.8 million, and by the mid-nineties made $25 million in sales three years in a row.

Stein began her career as a schoolteacher before marrying musical mogul and Sire Records co-founder Seymour Stein. She went on to help manage punk-rock bands including the Ramones, and met many of her friends-turned-real estate clients through her work in the music industry.
Outside of New York City, she sold major properties to the stars overseas, in places like Paris and Pisa, Italy. Her association high-profile clientele landed her several appearances in Page Six, the New York Observer, and even Vogue. KM
