Signature Bank specializes in servicing private companies, often with a focus on individualized customer service. Signature was formed in 2001 a couple years after a chance meeting between accountant Joseph DePaolo and investment banker Scott Shay, and today it is considered one of New Yorks most successful lenders. With roughly $30 billion in assets, Signature owes much of its success to its ability to lure high-profile talent from competing banks (it does this by offering greater bonuses to its team), as well as a powerhouse board that has included former politicians Barney Frank and Alfonse DAmato., as well as real estate maven Ivanka Trump The bank went public three years after opening, and today it has branches in every borough in New York City, as well as neighboring counties in Westchester and Long Island. The bank has been on the lending side of several development and expansion deals in the city, including at 261 Madison Avenue and 215 West 40th Street.
