225 West 57th Street, also known as 217 West 57th Street, is the site of the planned Central Park Tower, a mixed-use, 88-story, 233-unit residential condominium and hotel hybrid being developed by Extell Development. The site, which also uses the 1780 Broadway address, contains a landmarked 12-story building. Extell has agreed to preserve the facade of the Gilded Age building, incorporating it into its glass-and-steel skyscraper, which at 1,550 feet could be the tallest residential building in the world. The skyscraper, designed by architects Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill, is scheduled for completion in 2019 and will house the city's first Nordstrom department store (it was formerly known as Nordstrom Tower). Extell plans to locate a hotel on floors seven through 12. Nordstrom customers will enter on 57th Street, while residents will enter on 58th Street.
