5 Brookfield Place

1 North End Avenue
New York, NY 10281
Office, Leasing/Rental

Five Brookfield Place is a 15-story, 522,000-square-foot office and retail building in Lower Manhattan that sometimes goes by its address of 1 North End Avenue. It was known as 5 World Financial Center until a name-change in 2014.

The property is owned and operated by Brookfield, the Canadian giant that also controls, through its various subsidiaries, several other Manhattan properties, including 45 Park Avenue, 300 Madison Avenue and the under-development Manhattan West project.

Brookfield bought 1 North End Avenue for approximately $190 million in late 2013 from the parent company of the New York Mercantile Exchange, which occupies part of the building. The new owner quickly folded it into its five-building Brookfield Place complex.

Some 11,000 square feet of the building is given over to retail space. The rest is office or support-services space, including 13,000 square feet for parking. Five Brookfield Places typical floorplate is 55,000 rentable square feet.

David Cheikin of Brookfield handles office leasing at the tower; and Edward Hogan, also of Brookfield, handles retail deals. Five Brookfield Place was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and built in 1996, making it the youngest part of Brookfield Place.
