65 Broadway
New York, NY 10006
Office, Leasing/Rental

65 Broadway, known as The American Express Building, is a 21-story building in the Financial District owned by the Chetrit Group. The Neoclassical-style building, is located between Morris and Rector Streets, goes through to Trinity Place. The Chetrit Group, the developer and landlord, acquired the 350,000 square foot office building jointly with AM Property Group, before buying out AM in 2014 and consolidating its interest in the building in a complicated transaction that involved divesting from other buildings. The transaction valued the building, confusingly sometimes called the Standard & Poors Building, at around $140 million. It was the headquarters of American Express until 1975. The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission designated the concrete and steel-frame building, which is now a Class A office building, as a landmark in December 1995. It was built in 1914-1917 and was designed by James L. Aspinwall of the firm of Renwick, Aspinwall & Tucker. MK
