    919 Third Avenue is a 615-foot modern skyscraper in Midtown, Manhattan. It was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill architects and was completed in 1971. The building contains 1.5 million square feet of space.

    SL Green acquired the tower in 2007 as part of their $6 billion buy out of Reckson Associates Realty Corporation. As of the fourth quarter of 2014, SL Green collected $84.8 million in annualized rents. The largest lease at the building belongs to Debevoise & Plimpton, LLC, who rents nearly 620,000 square feet. Other tenant include Schulte, Roth & Zabel (263,186 square feet), Bloomingdales (157,961 square feet), Banque Nationale de Paris (145,834 square feet) and PJ Clarkes Restaurant.

    While the skyscraper was still under construction in 1970, a fire broke out on the towers fifth floor that injured 20 people and killed three. The incident in part led to the institution of New York Local Law #3 of 1973, which mandated that a fire safety director be on staff at any high-rise over 100 feet in height or occupied by more than 100 people.
