Astor Place is a 21-story, 39-unit residential building located at 445 Lafayette Street and erected by Related Companies, the developer and landlord, in 2005. Cooper Union, the college in the East Village, owns the land under the building, and has leased it to Related for 99 years. The tower is a condominium-cooperative hybrid, called a condop, a co-op with condo rules. Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects designed the undulating glass, loft-filled tower.

The site had been a parking lot before Related developed it. Amenities include a common garden, doorman and concierge, gym, and valet garage. A branch of Chase bank occupies the retail space on the ground floor. The other retail tenant was Icon Parking Garage. New York Magazine criticized the building for having an office-building vibe because of its greenish-blue glass windows.
