Gateway Center is a 638,000-square-foot, low-rise shopping center in East New York, a working-class section of Brooklyn. Related Companies erected the suburban-style retail development located at 501 Gateway Drive in 2002, in partnership with SMR Gateway. Greenberg Farrow Arch designed the retail center, which is built on city- and state-owned land. As of February 2015, tenants included BJs Wholesale Club, Home Depot, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Target, Best Buy, Old Navy, Olive Garden, and Red Lobster.
