Hudson Square, formerly known as the Printing District, is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, and major developers have set their sights on transforming it following a major rezoning in 2013. Boutique hotels, artisanal restaurants and major businesses have appeared in the area recently in hopes of bringing more foot traffic on nights and weekends.
In November 2014, Trinity Real Estate announced plans to build four luxury residential towers in Hudson Square. Cadillac also announced that it will be expanding to Beacon Properties' 330 Hudson Street (now minority-owned by Ivanhoé Cambridge and Callahan Capital Partners), where it will lease 20,000 square feet for office space for executive, marketing and sales staffers.
Since the rezoning of Hudson Square, 16 condominium and hotel development sites have appeared in the area, with Massey Knakal Reality Services' senior vice president of sales, Robert Burton, referring to it as a sleepy area that is now an awakening giant.
