Little Italy

Little Italy
New York, NY 10013

Little Italy is a neighborhood in lower Manhattan once known for its large population of Italian immigrants. Except for a few stores and restaurants selling Italian food, the neighborhood has all but disappeared as a distinct ethnic enclave. As of 2015, it consisted of three blocks on Mulberry Street, a dramatic contraction from its peak sprawl: as far south as Worth Street, as far north as Houston Street, as far west as Lafayette Street, and as far east as Bowery. Contemporary real estate development in Little Italy includes the 7-unit 182 Mulberry Street and the 18-unit 161 Grand Street. -TA
