Nestled a few blocks east of the Empire State Building, the property at 141 East 33rd Street is a 120-unit rental building built in 1960. In 2008 real estate developer Stonehenge Partners, which specialized in high-end rentals in generally all-condo neighborhoods, purchased the building along with 8 Gramercy Park South for $83 million. The purchase was part of the developers Stonehenge Fund III Limited Partnership, a $500 million equity fund it had formed the previous year to invest in multifamily properties, which also includes 8 Gramercy Park and 555 Sixth Avenue.

Stonehenge then redubbed 141 East 33rd Street Stonehenge 33. The building was a natural fit into Stonehenges upscale rental portfolio, as it has several exclusive penthouse apartments, several outdoor spaces, and a new fitness center.

In 2010, Stonehenge leased out 6,000 square feet of the buildings retail space to NYU Hospitals Center to create an imaging center for mammography and breast ultrasounds. ¾-NR
