    Stonehenge Mews

    19 East 65th Street
    New York, NY 10065
    Retail, Residential, Leasing/Rental, Multifamily

The nine-floor building was built in 1928 and largely been a sleepy fixture in the Madison Avenue Historic District, still featuring architectural cues of its horse-housing past.

However, a bizarre controversy erupted in 2010, when a tenant claimed she was the victim of identify fraud, could not pay her monthly rent, was allegedly harassed at work by the apartments brokers, and later came home to find her locks changed and her Great Dane taken down to the local ASPCA. The brokers countered that the woman had a history of rental problems and was playing the victim.

In early 2012, real estate developers Stonehenge Partners and SL Green Realtythe former specializing in residential apartments, the latter in commercial real estatepooled funds to buy the property from David Frankel Realty. The purchase was part of a larger portfolio of eight East Side properties, and the revenue from the portfolio was split down the middle in terms of residential and commercial leasing. ¾-NR
