The UBS Building at 299 Park Avenue is 574-foot office skyscraper in Midtown, Manhattan. It was fisher brothers topicbuilt in 1965 by the Fisher Brothers and was designed by Emery Roth & Sons. It was previously known as the Westvaco Building. In 2011, Alaska permanent Fund bought a 49.5 percent stake in the building for $623.7 million, or about $1,075-per-square-foot. Fisher Brothers, however, remains the majority owner and operator of the building.
Namesake UBS signed a 465,585-square-foot lease renewal in the building in 2000, but in recent years has made as much of 75% of that available for sublease as part of consolidation effort. Since that time Capital One Bank has moved into 217,241-square-feet of former UBS space. Other notable leases include Cerberus Capital Management (107,199-square-feet), GE Capital (105,524-square-feet), and the Consulate General of Japan (57,286-square-feet).
