Upper Manhattan is comprised of the neighborhoods Washington Heights and Inwood at the northern tip of Manhattan, bounded by 155th Street and the waterways that surround the island. West 181st Street is the border between Washington Heights and Inwood. The housing stock in Upper Manhattan consists mainly of rent-stabilized and rent-subsidized apartment buildings, meaning New York State and City Hall are large landlords in this swath of the city. There are also townhouses and detached single-family homes in Inwood. The neighborhood has also been nicknamed Quisqueya Heights by its large population of Dominican immigrants and Dominican-Americans. The Cloisters, a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art devoted to medieval art and culture and the athletic fields of Columbia University are both located in upper Manhattan. The neighborhoodÍs Bennett Park is the highest natural point in the borough.
