Inflation hits highest monthly level since ’80

Inflation surged in September to its highest monthly level since March of 1980, according to statistics released today by the federal government. The Bureau of Labor’s Consumer Price Index reached a level of 198.8, 4.7 percent higher than in September 2004. more [NYT]
