Bank branch boom bypassing outer boroughs?

A bank branch boom has put one on many a Manhattan corner the past few years 185 new branches have opened since 2000. But what of the outer boroughs? Only 15 new branches have opened in the Bronx, and just 37 and 49 in Brooklyn and Queens, respectively, during the same period. Some, including U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner, who represents parts of Brooklyn and Queens, say this discrepancy is directly tied to the income discrepancies between Manhattanites and residents of the other boroughs. more [NYDN]
