Study: Cost of home owning jumps in big cities

The cost of owning a home in the New York City metro area has increased over the past few years, while the cost for much of the nation outside of big cities has remained steady or declined over time. The cost of owning a home in the New York metro area increased from 25 percent of median income in 2000 to 38 percent today, according to a recent study.
