A proposal to build a co-ops on a city-owned site of the North Shore of Staten Island has some area residents worried. Plans call for the construction of 161 mid- to moderate-income co-ops in two four-story buildings on the municipal parking lot on Bay Street in the Stapleton neighborhood. Residents worry that the disappearance of the parking lot would mean the loss of a city site that could later on be used for other uses, such as new schools in the fast-growing borough. more [Advance]
