The City Council’s approval on Wednesday of the new Yankee Stadium was probably the result of several sweeteners that the baseball franchise tossed at the Bronx, where the current stadium is and the new stadium will be. For instance, the Yankees agreed to fill at least a quarter of the stadium’s construction contracts and hobs with Bronx residents and companies, and to provide $800,000 a year in cash grants, tickets, and equipment to youth and neighborhood groups. more [NYT]
