UN nixes Turtle Bay temporary headquarters

The United Nations has apparently scrapped plans to put up a temporary headquarters on a playground in Turtle Bay. Just last week, the Bloomberg administration said it would back plans to put the 35-story temporary headquarters up on what’s now the Robert Moses Playground at 41st Street and First Avenue. Now, however, the UN hopes to lease office space near its current headquarters while it undergoes renovations. more [Post] and more [Sun]
