The price of the new Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, which opened April 15 with the docking of the Queen Mary 2, ballooned to $56 million from the originally planned $30 million. The increase in costs to the city came after cruise lines Princess and Cunard requested everything from extra digging to a sparking glass front, according to city officials. Even with the city shelling out that extra money, however, there were no guaranteed contracts for Brooklyn businesses in the agreement signed between the city and the cruise lines. more [NYDN]
