Residents oppose new South Bronx prison

Plans by the city to build a prison in the South Bronx are under attack from area residents. The city last month announced plans to acquire 11 acres at Oak Point in Hunts Point for a 2,000-bed jail as part of a larger plan to replace Rikers Island with local jails in each borough. more [NYDN]
