Chicago big-box law may impact city

In a sign of things to perhaps come in New York, the Chicago City Council on Wednesday passed a groundbreaking ordinance that requires big-box stores to pay a minimum wage of $10 an hour by 2010, along with at least $3 an hour worth of benefits. One of the main things keeping big-box retailer Wal-Mart out of the five boroughs is the City Council’s opposition to its wage rules. more [NYT]
