Nassau Hub project gains steam

Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi has filed a development agreement with Reckson Associates chairman Scott Rechler and Islanders owner Charles Wang that formally gives them control of the county’s ambitious Hub redevelopment project in Hempstead. The agreement for the 77-acre site will last three years; legislative committees will vote on it on Jan. 22. Although exact plans for the development have not been finalized, Suozzi has portrayed it as a model of “New Suburbia,” with a sports arena, mixed-use development, a 62-story office tower and a light rail system that connects the various elements. more [Newsday]
