The YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities (YAI/NIPD) has filed a lawsuit claiming that a condominium, the Bennett at 736 West 187th Street, violated the Fair Housing Act by not selling two apartments to the organization. The condos were to house five individuals with developmental disabilities. YAI/NIPD went into contract for the two units last summer, but the condo exercised its right of first refusal and subsequently sold the apartments to other buyers. The lawsuit was filed against the condo’s board, managing agent Tudor Realty Services Corp., and the apartments’ seller and buyers.
