DOT, Council gridlock over bill

A current City Council bill proposes upgrades to the Department of Transportation’s data collection system in order to better track – and therefore ease – traffic congestion. The Department of Transportation says the bill’s measures are too costly, and that Midtown’s congestion levels are only now reaching pre-9/11 levels. The DOT currently only tracks traffic flow in Midtown, but the Council wants the department to collect data for other areas in the city. more [Metro]
