‘Shaya is coming’: Beware, Brooklyn?

A group has set up a Web site called “Shaya is Coming” and posted flyers on lampposts in Brooklyn to campaign against Shaya Boymelgreen’s development plans in Gowanus. Boymelgreen, the head of Boymelgreen Developers LLC, wants to build a project called “Gowanus Village” that will have hundreds of units of housing. The campaign’s Web site says Boymelgreen has allegedly underpaid workers, forced laborers to work under dangerous conditions, racially discriminated against workers, and has taken advantage of tax abatements without building affordable housing. more [Gowanus Lounge]
