Plan for U.N. tower gains support

As the city fleshes out plans for a 35-story U.N. office tower on the site of Robert Moses Playground, the proposal is gaining the support of some Turtle Bay residents. The city presented community members with plans for a new ballpark at East 38th Street to replace the 1.3-acre playground that the skyscraper would rest on. The proposal could run into interference at the state level, however, as the Legislature must approve any plan that involves a loss of city parkland. more [Sun]
