Gov. Spitzer appointed two new leaders to the Lower Manhattan Development Corp. yesterday. The agency is responsible for Ground Zero-area economic redevelopment. David Emil, former owner of the Windows on the World restaurant at the World Trade Center, was named the new president of the LMDC, and Avi Schick, the new downstate chief operating officer of the Empire State Development Corp., will be chairman of the LMDC’s board. “With new leadership and new direction, a reinvigorated LMDC will help revitalize an area that is important as an economic hub to New York and as a symbol of our freedom and resilience to all Americans,” said Spitzer. more [AMNY]
