The Center for an Urban Future released a study saying that developers should be given incentives to build cheap housing on the northern tip of Staten Island–near the St. George ferry terminal–in order to stem the loss of young residents from the borough. Current zoning does not allow for high-density development in the area. “If Staten Island is going to hang on to its young people and attract young professionals from elsewhere, it’s going to have to have a dynamic neighborhood with new amenities,” said Jonathan Bowles, who wrote the study. more [NYT]
