Brooklyn library plan stalled

The Brooklyn Public Library’s plans to build a pricey performing arts branch on a city-owned plot in Fort Greene appear to be stalled. The library is finding it impossible to secure funding for the $135 million, Enrique Norten–designed building. Work on the library–which is supposed to be the centerpiece of plans to have a cultural campus near the Brooklyn Academy of Music similar to Lincoln Center–will not go forward unless a private donor steps up to the plate, said a library spokeswoman. more [Brooklyn Paper via Brownstoner]
