The YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities (YAI/NIPD) reached a settlement in a lawsuit it filed claiming that the Bennett condominium at 736 West 187th Street violated the Fair Housing Act by not selling two apartments to the organization. The Washington Heights condos were to be turned into a group residence for five individuals with developmental disabilities. YAI/NIPD went into contract for the two units last summer, but the condo exercised its right of first refusal and subsequently sold the apartments to other buyers. more TRD
