Broken Angel, the world-famous Brooklyn building painstakingly built up by artist Arthur Wood over several decades, may be doomed because of a court decision. Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Sylvia Hinds-Radix ordered Wood to dismantle the upper portions of the building on May 2nd, and Wood said that he would comply with the order. Wood had been working for a number of months with local developer Shahn Andersen to try to get clearance from the Department of Buildings to bring the structure up to code without tearing down the top sections of Broken Angel. “I don’t feel very good about [this],” said Wood. “I can’t talk anymore right now. I’m demolishing the building.” more [Brooklyn Paper]
