Queens’ Borough Board put off voting on the Planning Dept.’s proposal to rezone Jamaica. The board’s City Council members could not reach a quorum and therefore decided not vote on the proposal, which is slated to be the Bloomberg administration’s largest rezoning to date. The sweeping plan calls for upzoning some sections of the neighborhood to allow for high-density development and downzoning others to protect existing low-rise character. The Planning Dept. will hold a public hearing on the proposal later this month, and it will then head to the Council for a vote. more [Times Ledger via Queens Crap]
