St. Vincent’s hospital announced today that it had selected the Rudin family as its development partner for the new St. Vincent’s Hospital Manhattan, a facility spread over two blocks that will replace its current operations on the east side of Seventh Avenue South at West 11th Street. The hospital plans to raze its O’Toole building on the west side of Seventh Avenue South to construct its new, green facility, which is slated to be built to between 600,000 and 650,000 square feet. Current plans call for the Rudin family to redevelop the main hospital site, on the east side of the avenue, for residential use. Some community members say the hospital’s proposal will result in an unnecessary increase in density and be out of place in the Greenwich Village Historic District. The O’Toole building currently has 175,072 gross square feet. TRD
