Coney Island plans discussed

On Wednesday night the Municipal Art Society and Coney Island USA sponsored a panel about future development at Coney Island. The panel included representatives from the Coney Island Development Corporation, which is in charge of a long-awaited plan for rezoning the area, and Taconic Investment Partners, which has purchased several Coney Island parcels. The president of the CIDC, Lynn Kelly, said that though a rezoning plan was “close” to being finished, “the zoning will be done and ready to show when the zoning is done.” Taconic, meanwhile, talked about how it plans to renovate the historic Childs Restaurant building on the boardwalk and open an upscale eatery in the structure. more [Village Voice] and
