Scarano building plan protested

At a meeting last night of the Carroll Gardens Neighborhood Association, residents and Councilmember Bill de Blasio aired concerns about controversial architect Robert Scarano’s plans to erect an eight-story residential building at 360 Smith Street. Many community members say the building will be an eyesore that is out of scale with surrounding Carroll Gardens buildings. Scarano has submitted five different plans to the Dept. of Buildings for the condo, and all have been rejected on the basis that they do not comply with zoning or building codes. more [Gowanus Lounge]
