Following the United Nations’ December announcement of a plan that will keep it in Manhattan as its East Side campus undergoes a $1.9 billion expansion, many governmental agencies and NGOs are renewing their office leases early in Turtle Bay or buying properties in the area. Angola’s permanent mission to the United Nations, for example, recently purchased the entire 12th floor at 820 Second Avenue. The governments of Croatia, Nepal, Syria and Peru also recently bought office condominiums at 820 Second Avenue, where space is going for around $675 a square foot. more [NYT]
