After seven tons of steel fell Friday at the site of the planned
Goldman Sachs tower near the World Trade Center, inspectors from the
city’s Department of Buildings are conducting a “top to bottom” review
of crane operations. A nylon sling failed Friday and 30-foot metal
studs fell about 13 stories, injuring an architect. Tishman
Construction Corp. received four violations and the crane operator
received one.
