City proceeds with plans for Union Square restaurant

The Bloomberg administration is proceeding with plans for a restaurant in the middle of the historic Union Square pavilion, despite assurances it gave a community board that a non-commercial use of the space would be considered. Residents say the area lacks recreational space, not restaurants. Four years ago, Mayor Michael Bloomberg was heckled when he announced the plan.
