So much for the anticipated delay in the Hudson Yards sweepstakes: the Observer reports that the MTA could pick a winning bidder for its 26-acre rail yards site as early as tonight. Last night, the MTA reportedly narrowed the field from four to two: Tishman Speyer and the Durst-Vornado joint venture. The Related Companies reportedly lacked a firm commitment from its anchor tenant, Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. Any decision must be ratified by the MTA’s board, which could happen on Wednesday. The MTA’s chairman had suggested that a decision could be delayed for months.
