Williamsburg rezoning angers property owners

Williamsburg property owners are upset about a plan to rezone 13 blocks and 254 properties around Grand Street, which would cap most new development at 50 feet, or about five stories. Some property owners say they didn’t know about the plan and want a seven-story limit. The City Council is slated to vote on the rezoning tomorrow. A proposed 14-story project at the Karl Fischer-designed 227 Grand Street prompted demands for rezoning in the neighborhood, which is mostly three- and four-story buildings.
